The year’s European Congress on Obesity (ECO2018) in the majestic city of Vienna, Austria, will feature the latest research, clinical approaches and perspectives on obesity from a wide range of fields. Issues covered will include:
- Childhood obesity
- New aspects on metabolic control
- Behavioural and lifestyle interventions
- Food addiction
- Behaviour change
- New research on obesity (bariatric) surgery
- Stigma and discrimination
- The role of gut microbiota
- Obesity and cancer
- Obesity surgery
- Obesity and puberty
Experts from around the world will present abstracts and deliver symposia on these and other themes.
There will be a series of press conferences to showcase the items most of interest to the media, and press releases issued throughout the congress. A staffed media centre will be available on site to help journalists with their queries and interview requests.

In addition, we will host a Media Master Class for journalists on obesity bias and stigma on Thursday, 24 May at 4PM, led by international leaders in patient advocacy and obesity treatment. Following the Master Class, individual interviews will be available. A reception will follow.
